ADAMS System

In accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code (the Code), the document that standardizes anti-doping policies in all sports and in all countries, WADA has an obligation to coordinate anti-doping activities and provide a mechanism to assist stakeholders with your implementation of the Code.

The Anti-Doping Administration and Administration System (ADAMS) was developed for this purpose. It is a web database management system that simplifies the daily activities of all athletes and others interested in the anti-doping system.

ADAMS features

Available in English, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Italian, Turkish, Dutch, Chinese, Korean, and Arabic, ADAMS is free to doping control stakeholders around the world, increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the fight against doping in sport.

This web functionality allows athletes to comply with the Whereabouts rule by entering their information from anywhere in the world. Furthermore, ADAMS supports the delegation of this responsibility to an authorized representative, such as the team administrator, an agent or another.

This functionality also helps ADOs share whereabouts information, crucial to support athletes not having to enter their whereabouts more than once through multiple means.

Athletes can also modify their whereabouts by using SMS messages to ADAMS.

ADAMS facilitates TUE online management, as well as online notifications to those involved in the process.

The TUE information is shared with all relevant parties, therefore the athlete only needs to apply once.

Following TUE approval, ADAMS provides the athlete with the option to print their Certificate of Approval to keep for their records.

The ADAMS Doping Control Database provides ADOs with an essential tool to manage their Doping Control Programs in and out of competition.

Interested parties can use ADAMS to plan, coodrinate and order tests, as well as to manage test results. Coordination of Doping Control Programs in the ADAMS system helps avoid duplication of efforts and harmonizes communication between doping control authorities, sample collection agencies and WADA accredited laboratories.

WADA accredited laboratories use ADAMS to submit test results to appropriate authorities, including WADA. In this way, Results Management Organizations are notified of the results quickly and clearly and the WADA automatically commits to guarantee transparency in all results management processes.

ADAMS was launched in 2005 for the initial pilot phase. Since then, the majority of anti-doping organizations and all WADA – WADA accredited anti-doping laboratories have introduced and implemented the system.
